Warm-A-Child
Helping Incarcerated Parents Care for Their Children
Winter can be a particularly challenging time for families impacted by incarceration. For many caregivers stepping in to raise children while a parent is away, basic necessities like adequate winter clothing can become a heavy financial burden.
Our Warm-A-Child program ensures that children of incarcerated parents receive brand-new, high-quality winter coats to keep them warm, safe, and confident throughout the coldest months of the year.

Program Purpose
Why Warm-A-Child Matters
Restoring Family Bonds
By empowering incarcerated parents to present the coat to their child we help maintain and repair the vital parent-child connection.
Preserving Dignity
Parents are given the dignity of providing for their child, and children receive a gift filled with love directly from their parent.
Alleviating Financial Strain
Caregivers raising children on a single or fixed income get relief from the heavy cost of winter outerwear.
Promoting Wellbeing
Proper winter attire ensures children stay healthy, confident, and able to attend school regularly through the winter.
Our Process
How the Program Works
Parent Participation
Incarcerated parents work with facility coordinators and our team to request a brand-new coat sized specifically for their child.
Personalized Gifting
Parents can include a personal note or gift tag with the coat, making the present truly theirs to give.
Special Delivery & Distribution
Coats are presented to children during special facility family-reunification events, winter visiting days, or delivered directly to the caregiver on the parent’s behalf.

We do not accept used coats in this program but you can see if our clothing closet has space to accept your gently used coats.
Not at this time. We work with prisons, halfway houses, and mandatory in-stay rehabilitation programs to identify parents whose children could use coats.
We are not able to process new coats this way. At this time, we accept financial contributions so that we can purchase the coats needed in the sizes needed.
